One of the uniquely appalling things about Gaza in the last 111 days is the superlatives of destruction and suffering that have come to be associated with it, with new records being broken, it seems, almost daily.
When people in Gaza (whether they be local journalists, the few NGOs on the ground or UN workers) have been asked in the last 3.5 months to comment on what they are living and what they are seeing, there are typically one of two responses: either the individual is at a loss for words to describe what is happening or the individual responds with a new superlative of suffering and destruction coined specifically for Gaza in this current moment. The aim of this post is to collate the superlatives as a means to highlight the extent of the moral failure that humanity has allowed to transpire in Gaza. If new superlatives manifest, I will update this list (although I sincerely hope I never have to):
